Avenue of Flags

Flags are flown on the seven major holidays, in memory of the deceased servicemen and women of Cherokee County. The flags are placed in the median on U.S. Hwy 411 between Centre and Leesburg.
These Holidays are:
Memorial Day
Flag Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veterans Day

Taste of Cherokee

Held annually in February. Restaurants and delicatessens provide "tastes" of their special dishes. A hungry and appreciative crowd enjoy dishes ranging from homemade gumbo and a 3 ft party sub to roast beef and marinated chicken. The assortment of desserts ruined more than a few diets. Entertainment is provided by local singers and dancers. There is a charge for tickets. Please call 256-927-8455 for further information.

Fall Festival - 1st Saturday in October

Main Street is closed for several blocks for this fun-filled street party. Festivities begin at 7am to 1pm. A parade begins at 10am and features the Cherokee County Marching Band and costumed participants. Other groups do demonstrations along the parade route. Local saddle clubs ride through town on their horses or in carriages. You may visit other booths set up along Main Street for arts and crafts, antiques, clothing, plants, jewelery, and specialty items. Sample homemade food: barbecue, cookies, cakes, funnel cakes, pickles, etc. Entertainment is provided by local bands. WEIS Radio and The Cherokee Herald will be there to cover the fun. Booths 10'x8' are available for $15.00 per booth for individuals, schools, churches, and civic organizations. Miss Snowflake - November

Held the third Saturday in November, this winter pageant gets us in the mood for Christmas. The Miss Snowflake Court rides on their own float in the annual Christmas parade. Age Categories are:
0-1 Newborn Miss Snowflake
1-4 Baby Miss Snowflake
5-7 Tiny Miss Snowflake
8-11 Little Miss Snowflake
12-15 Junior Miss Snowflake
16-21 Miss Snowflake

Christmas Parade

Held on Main Street in Centre, this popular event always brings out huge crowds. Marching bands, floats from businesses, civic clubs and chruchs, antique cars, fire engines, police cars, and SANTA CLAUSE!!!! Call 927-8455 to reserve your space for your float or marching group.
